Huffmann, Helmut, born 31-07-1891 in Werden a/d Ruhr, 
entered the Army Service on 29-05-1912, as a Fahnenjunker in the 45th Field Artillery Regiment, age 20. Helmut was in the fields of the first war as a Platoon Leader in this Regiment. He ended the war as a Battery Leader in the same Regiment. Huffmann remained in the new Reichswehr 
and as World War II started he was the commander of the III Artillery Instruction Regiment, until 25-05-1941. Artillery Commander 103 to 23-11-1942, High Artillery Commander 306, to 31-01-1943 and Commander of the 62nd Infantry Division, under Generalmajor, Friedrich Kittel 
until 15-11-1943. Last commander of the 62nd Infantry Division 
was Oberst Arthur Jüttner. 
Jüttner died at the very old age of 95, on 01-12-2003, in Bramstedt. His division fought in France and the Ardennes before being trapped in the Ruhr Pocket, where it was destroyed in April 1945 He landed in the Führer Reserve

to 15-04-1944 and again in the infamous Reserve to 01-05-1944. Except for its formation time in Croatia and Hungary the 277th Infantry Division spent its entire operation history on the Western Front. The division took part in the Battles of Normandy and the Ardennes under Army Group B, 
under General Field Marshal der Panzertruppe, Walter Model.

In 1945 the division entered U.S. captivity in the Ruhr Pocket and Walter Model committed suicide. Huffmann was detached to the Artillery School I, in Berlin, Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels 
was next to propaganda minister the Gauleiter of Berlin, to 27-05-1944 and Huffmann was the commander of this School until his captivity on 08-05-1947.Death and burial ground of Huffmann, Helmut.
Huffmann was released in 1947 and lived in Bad Godesberg, where he at the old age of 84 died, on 09-12-1975. Huffmann is buried with his wife Ellen, who died age 75 in 1975, on the cemetery Rüngsdorf in Bad Godesberg.
